‘Big Brother Naija’ filled with twists as lovers, friends, siblings and a plotting married couple enter the house

“Big Brother Naija’s” ninth season launched in a truly spectacular fashion as 28 housemates were welcomed into the house, kicking off what promises to be an unforgettable season.

Charismatic Ebuka Obi-Uchendu returned as the host of the popular game show. Nigerian superstar Niniola dazzled the audience with her hits “All Eyes on Me” and “Formula” at the premiere which was broadcast live on Sunday.

For the first time ever, contestants have entered the house in pairs, setting the stage for a very interesting show.

Titled “No Loose Guard,” the show introduced audiences to the 28 housemates who will compete over the next 71 days for the N100 million grand prize (estimated over R1 million).

First to enter were lovers of five months, Chinwe and Zion, dubbed the ‘Zinwe’ pair.

They were followed by gym enthusiasts Femi David and Micky, who proclaimed themselves ‘Radicals’ and declared they were “virgins”.

Next, women friends DJ Flo and Rhuthee, calling themselves ‘Floruish’, shared their loyalty to each other despite admitting to “trust issues”.

They were soon joined by the aunt and niece duo, Chinne and Nne, who called themselves ‘Ndi Nne.’

Colleagues Sooj and Topher, who see themselves as ‘Tom and Jerry,’ were the fifth pair to enter, followed by the boy and girlfriend pair Shaun and Victoria, known as ‘Shatoria’ who met in Dubai in 2022.

The excitement continued with identical twin sisters and DJs, Wanni and Handi, who described themselves as “single and ready to mingle” and “double trouble”.

Next came Team Beta – Ben, who claimed he wouldn’t miss anyone, and Tjay, who admitted he would miss his wife and child.

Another set of identical twins, the ‘Mbadiwe twins’ Ozee and Ocee, from a renowned political family in Nigeria, made a stylish entrance in matching outfits.

Lady friends Toyosi and Damilola, dubbed ‘TAMI,’ who are “keeping an open mind” entered the house tenth.

They were followed by beauty queen and pole dancer pair Nelly and Anita, known as ‘Nelita,’ who met at a beauty pageant audition in 2015.

The male friends Toby Forge and Mayor Frosh, known as ‘Steeze,’ who met during the 2020 lockdown, were next.

The thirteenth pair, scheming married couple Kassia and KellyRae, who have known each other for 10 years and married in February, entered the house planning to keep their marriage a secret, pretending to be besties instead.

Finally, dreadlock sisters Chizoba and Onyeka were ushered into the house, wrapping up an exhilarating premiere night.
