Prepare to be captivated by the passionate world of “Carmen” currently on at the Pieter Toerien Theatre until Sunday, December 22.

The production brings together the fiery rhythms of flamenco, the graceful elegance of ballet, and the energetic moves of Pantsula, creating an explosive fusion of dance styles that promises to enthral audiences.

With choreography led by the renowned José Manuel Buzón Ruiz from Madrid to Angela Revie from Mzansi Ballet, this adaptation of the classic tale explores the powerful themes of love, jealousy, and betrayal.

Set to the iconic music of French composer, Georges Bizet, the production invites audiences to immerse themselves in a story that has captivated hearts for generations.

Adding an authentic Spanish flair, Mzansi Ballet has partnered with the Spanish dance community in Johannesburg and Pretoria to create a truly dynamic production.

This weekend is your last chance to gather the kids and head to the National Children’s Theatre for their latest production, “Rhymes and Rhythms: From Mother Goose to Dr Seuss”.

As the name suggests, the concert serves as a tribute to the legends who have shaped our sound and culture, while also commemorating 30 years of democracy.

The star-studded line-up features Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Mango Groove, Mafikizolo, Vicky Sampson, Don Laka, Jimmy Dludlu and Miss Hilary.

The City of Johannesburg is brightening up the festive season with its annual Joburg Festival of Lights.
