Durban - Enigmatic musical collective Bombshelter Beast will hit Durban this weekend for their Summer Roast tour.
The collective is a colourful and innovative group of artists, who perform a mixed-grill of musical styles. From bling brass players, sexy saxophones, rocking rhythm section; add multi-lingual rappers, dancing singers and superb storytellers, there are also instruments you have never seen before. The group is all decked in African fabrics and safari suits.
Bombshelter Beast is a genre-busting music collective comprising some of South Africa’s best musicians. Experience old school Kwaito & House, Drum ‘n Bass, Dancehall, Dub, Ska, Balkan, Boeremusiek, Hip Hop, Ghoema, Rock, and the odd sneaky bit of Jazz – all peppered with badass rapping and live improvisations.
Think of putting an Afrikaans opera singer, a Polish refugee playing the accordion, a UK-born kwaito star and South Africa’s most astute linguist rapping it up.
Catch them at The Chairman in Durban’s Mahatma Gandhi (Point) Road on Saturday from 9.30pm. Bookings from 079 753 6313 or mail [email protected]
The collective also play at The Rainbow Restaurant in Pinetown on Sunday at 2pm. Tickets are R100 from 031 702 9161 or mail [email protected]
