DURBAN - It was all about "magic" and models, at the unveiling of the fashion offerings by selected designers for this year's edition of the annual spectacle that is the Vodacom Durban July.
South Africa's premium horse racing event takes place at Greyville on July 1.
The Greyville Racecourse played host to the pre-race fashion show, where some light entertainment with Karen van Pletsen and an accompanying choir. Guests were treated to the creations of ten young designers, chosen from 105, who showed great flair in their interpretation of "The Colour of Magic" theme.
Then followed the amateur home fashion enthusiasts, mostly from Durban, to show they can compete against the professional designers.
Then it was the turn of the invited designers to showcase their raceday ensembles and they know how to turn heads with their creations.
The designers include Malcolm Kluk and Christian du Toit, Hangwani Nengovhela, Thula Sindi, Sibu Msimang, Sadie Bosworth Smith, Mxolisi Mkhize, Dale McCarthy and Jane Wolff, and Terence Bray.
