Happy International Kissing Day! But here’s what NOT to eat before that smooch

All roads lead to Greyville Racecourse for the HollywoodBets Durban July, so for the glam lovers attending, and all love birds across Mzansi, IOL has put together a list of five foods to NOT eat before going in for THAT kiss on this sizzling Saturday.

Garlic and Onion

We love a good garlic dish, but certainly not before you’re about to kiss someone? That’s a nightmare and you’re most likely going to be the topic in that friend’s group chat, avoid!!

Spicy food

You want your partner to feel the heat when you kiss them, just not that kind. That is going to be one acidic kiss, no one deserves it.

Coffee

Caffeine is great to start the day, but not the bad breath that lingers afterwards, not sexy at all.

Rice

You don’t want to leave anything in your partner’s mouth, there is just no coming back from that embarrassing moment and you’ll be remembered for all the wrong reasons.

Peanuts/ Peanut butter sandwich

While a peanut allergy may not be too common, it's possible that your partner may be allergic to peanuts, so this is a ‘’rather be safe than sorry’’ bit of advice - you don’t want to end up in an emergency room, when the aim was to be in an entirely different room?

But here is a thing ... You don’t want to NOT eat anything at all, though. When you have not eaten, your saliva decreases, which makes for lousy kissing, and also increases bacterial growth, so try some citrus fruit or gum and you are good to go. Happy kissing!
