The nominations for the Twyg Sustainable Fashion Awards are open. This means fashion enthusiasts can now nominate their favourite sustainable fashion designers.

Open to South Africans from 18 and older, the Twyg Sustainable Fashion Awards is an initiative that honours designers who are conscious of the sustainability of their products.

“The aim of the awards is to celebrate fashion that is ecologically, socially and culturally fit for the future. We need to support the leaders, designers and makers involved in ushering in the tomorrow our planet needs,” said Twyg founder Jackie May.

This year, there are 11 entry categories, including the Changemaker Award, which is not open to nominations.

The Changemaker Award will be awarded to the overall winner – drawn from all the categories and based on the judges’ scoring results – who will receive a substantial prize.

Other than that, designers can also self-nominate in the following categories:

  • Emerging Designer Award
  • Student Award
  • Footwear Award
  • Accessories Award
  • Innovative Design and Materials Award
  • Trans-seasonal Design Award
  • Farm-to-Fashion Award
  • Nicholas Coutts Artisanal Fashion Award
  • Retail Award
  • Tastemaker Award

Visit the Twyg website to find out more about the nomination process.

Winners will be announced at the main event set to take place in November 2024.
