Durban – A shop owner died on the way to hospital from injuries sustained in a knife attack in KwaSathane area near Glendale in KwaDukuza on Thursday.

The incident was attended to by emergency services and confirmed by police.

IPSS Security Group said that along with IPSS Medical Rescue it responded to the scene where it was reported that a local shop owner was washing his car when he was attacked with a knife.

“Upon arrival of IPSS Security it was determined that one male had been injured.”

IPSS said the paramedics were informed that the man was en route hospital in a private vehicle.

IPSS Security Group added that an IPSS Medical Rescue ambulance met the private vehicle along the route but the man had already succumbed to his injuries. The group passed its condolences to the family of the deceased.

Police spokesperson, Lieutenant-Colonel Nqobile Gwala, said that police were attending the scene.

“We can confirm that the incident took place today and our members are still busy at the scene.”

Last week The Mercury newspaper reported that four suspects were arrested after a dairy farm owner and his family were attacked and robbed in their homestead on October 15 in Thornville outside Pietermaritzburg.

Police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Nqobile Gwala said that on October 21, Thornville detectives, Crime Intelligence and Magma Security made a breakthrough in the case.

“The investigation led the team to Richmond where four suspects, aged between 22 and 27, were arrested,” Gwala added.
