Chevrolet Corvette: It may be nearing the end of its life cycle but the current Corvette still offers tons of old-school muscle, with up to 476kW on command. We really hope the next Corvette is made in right-hand drive form.
Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD: Some farmers are too small to fit into an Isuzu. If we think of any other logical reasons why this behemoth should come to South Africa, we will let you know. Its 6.6-litre turbodiesel V8 does sound like a lot of fun though.

Dodge Charger: Unlike the coupe of yore, the latest Dodge Charger is a practical four-door sedan based on the Chrysler 300C. Popular with the cops Stateside, its 5.7-litre Hemi V8 heart helps keep the prisons well stocked.
Dodge Challenger SRT8: Chrysler answers to the Camaro with this rear-wheel drive retro creature, with a 351kW 6.4-litre Hemi V8 thumping beneath the bonnet.
Ford Mondeo: The latest mid-sized sedan that you see here has not yet gone on sale in Europe, but if the absence of the current one is anything to go by, do not hold your breath on this one coming to South Africa.
Ford Mustang: Like the Camaro and Challenger, the original pony car lives on with retro looks, V8 power and a rudimentary chassis designed for the straight stretches of Route 66. The Shelby versions, with up to 494kW, offer tar-shredding insanity by the bucket load.
Ford S-Max: There must be a niche for this Ford Europe-designed minivan created for those who appreciate a sportier driving experience. The latest version is powered by a 149kW version of the new 2-litre EcoBoost turbopetrol engine.
HSV GTS: What a ripper! The performance division of Holden in Australia takes the standard Commodore SS (a.k.a Chev Lumina) and transforms it into this 325kW automotive black sheep that looks kitsch enough to scare anything out of the fast lane.
Hyundai Genesis Coupe: We like the latest batch of Hyundais but none of them offer much in the way of driving enjoyment. The Genesis Coupe would solve that with its rear-wheel drive configuration and available 3.8-litre V6 engine.
Morgan 3-wheeler: The ionic Morgan three-wheeler, which was built between 1909 and 1953, returns to the modern era, complete with 21st century technology, to bring back a more carefree era when every journey was an adventure.
Opel Insignia: This stylish Opel sedan could be a refreshing alternative to the often-staid large sedans that flood our market. There is also an all-wheel drive OPC version, shoved along by a 239kW 2.8 V6 turbo.
Pagani Huayra: Outrageous looks, 515kW/1000Nm AMG V12 engine, 1350kg kerb weight. Anything else you need to know?
Seat Ibiza FR: Looking more distinctive and aggressive than the dime-a-dozen Polo it is based on and coming with a 110kW 1.4 TSI engine, this one would make a fine semi-hot-hatch for those who cannot stretch to a GTI.
Skoda Yeti: This plucky little crossover could just be the ultimate affordable adventure vehicle. Very practical, available with 4x4 and sure to cut a unique profile in a market filled with same-olds.

It's human nature to want things we can't have so please join us in celebrating this darker side of our beings with this gallery of cars that are not coming to South Africa any time soon, if ever.
South African car buyers might be spoiled for choice but, as you will see in this selection voted for by our team of motoring writers, there is still tons of desirable metal that doesn't ever make its way to our shores.
In many cases we can blame the lack of a right-hand drive derivative but this is certainly not always the case, particularly when it comes to the European cars.
