Johannesburg – With the reported incidents of Ford Kugas bursting into flames and the recall issued by Ford, people on social media have wasted no time in cobbling together memes that rained 'fire' down on the automotive group.
Ford on Monday issued a recall for a total of 4556 1.6-litre Kuga SUVs built between December 2012 and February 2014.
Ford SA CEO Jeff Nemeth said that while it would continue to investigate the issue, its research so far points to insufficient coolant circulation leading to a crack in the cylinder head, thus causing oil to leak onto hot engine components.
At least 46 1.6-litre turbo-charged Ford Kugas are said to have caught fire in South Africa.
