IOL motoring has introduced a tool that will make that final research feel like a walk in the park. Powered by vehicle information specialist Duoporta, the search engine not only provides pricing and detailed specifications for every single new vehicle derivative on sale in South Africa, but it also allows you create a side-by-side comparison of up to four vehicles from different brands.
HOW TO USE IT
To search for a vehicle, simply click on the 'Prices & Specs' link on the top right hand corner of any IOL Motoring page (or click HERE ). Once the page has loaded, take a look at the search filters on the left hand side of the page.
The 'Brand' bar on the top allows you to search by manufacturer and once you've chosen your preferred make, click ‘next’ and a list of models appears. Choose among those and you're presented with all its derivatives. Vehicles that you select appear as thumbnails on the main page and from there you can choose to view it in detail or add to your compare list.
If you don't have any specific brand in mind, the lower columns on the left also allow you to search by price, segment, fuel type and gearbox type.
If you're looking for a cheap thrill, for instance, you can - within seconds - create a list of all R300 000 to R350 000 coupes with manual gearboxes and petrol engines. If you're a politician on the other hand, it's as simple as setting a R1 million to R5 million price range - sedan - petrol - automatic. And then, hopefully, get back to the business of running the country.
