Johannesburg - Mitsubishi has given the flagship of its ASX line-up, the GLS with constantly variable belt-drive transmission, a fairly unsubtle facelift to differentiate it from its siblings and make it look more special.

It gets a new grille with more chrome, new LED daytime running lights, a revised front bumper with sporty honeycomb air intake, a new rear bumper with a diffuser and carbon-fibre inserts and an LED rear fog light.

New 18 inch diamond-cut alloys wheels round off the new GLS exterior package.

Inside, there’s a redesigned centre console with geometric trim elements, two USB ports and a mobile phone tray with a removable padded liner. The finish on the centre stack and the power window switch panels in the doors has been upgraded, while the soft-feel leather seats (including the matching knee pads on the sides of the centre console) gets a new design with red contrast stitching.

But possibly the best feature of the face-lifted GLS is its price - exactly the same as before.

The Mitsubishi ASX GLS CVT still sells for R399 995, which includes a three-year or 100 000km warranty, and a five-year or 90 000km service plan with 15 000km service intervals.
