Murcielago v GT-R in monstrous BattleDrift video

Sheerness, North Kent - What better way to rev up your Friday morning than with Monster Energy’s BattleDrift 2, shot in the Sheerness dockyard with two of the most monstrous (if you’ll forgive the pun) drift cars we’ve yet seen.

Back from the original Battle Drift video are Japanese D1 Grand Prix star A Daigo Saito and his outrageous Lamborghini Murcielago, converted from all-wheel to rear-wheel drive and full-tilt drift spec, with 480kW on tap and a seriously attitudinous exhaust note.

No mid-engined supercar is easy to hold in a drift; Saigo’s consummate car control in an unforgiving environment is what lifts this video way above the ordinary into Ken Block territory.

His partner for this tyre shred-fest is 2009 British Drift Champion Steve ‘Baggsy’ Biagioni, in a GT-R the boffins at Nissan wouldn’t even recognise. It’s also been converted to rear-wheel drive (a pre-requisite for drifting) and the original biturbo V6 has been ditched in favour of a gynormous turbo V8 sourced from General Motors, wielding anything from 880-1030kW, depending on who you’re listening to.

Turn the volume way up and immerse yourself in five minutes of tyre smoke and rolling thunder, filmed in collaboration with Donut Brand Studio and directed by Andrew Laputka - oh, and there’s a surprise bonus at 2:40.
