Pretoria – Ford has upped the gizmo factor on all its locally-built Ranger one-tonners and Everest SUVs, including the latest-generation Sync3 with Navigation on the Ranger XLT and Wildtrak models and the Everest XLT and Limited.
This adds a navigation function to the Sync3 infotainment system introduced in 2016, accessible from the 20cm centre-stack touchscreen, with access to more than 20 country maps including: Angola, Benin, Botswana, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Lesotho, Malawi, Mauritania, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, South Africa, Swaziland, Tanzania, Togo, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
The package includes voice guidance in Afrikaans, Arabic, English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish or Zulu, with free annual mapping updates for five years – all you have to do is park within range of a WiFi hotspot.
All Ranger and Everest derivatives now have an electronic rear differential lock as standard, as well as a lock for the spare wheel; all Everest SUVs get IsoFix child seat mounting points for the outer middle-row seats, and the Ranger XLS benefits from the inclusion of rear parking sensors and a rear-view camera.
