Essen, Germany - For those police departments whose budgets don’t stretch to Lamborghinis and AMG GTs for high-speed pursuits, Oettinger created this highway patrol concept Golf R for the recent Essen Motor Show as part of the federal transport ministry’s Tune It! Safe! Campaign.
In addition to the obvious - flashing lights in the roof and the air dam, blue, white and yellow foil wrap and the word ‘Polizei’ in huge letters - it also has an aero kit including a splitter, skirts, roof spoiler and a rear diffuser, as well as a specially made bonnet, a custom auspuff with four 90mm tailpipes and a set of 20 inch alloys shod with low-profile Hankooks.
What you don’t see in these pictures is the the Oettinger-tuned two-litre turbopetrol four, tweaked from the standard Golf R’s 228kW to a seriously bandit-busting 295kW - it’ll go from coffee break to 100km/h in 3.6 seconds and hit 288km/h on the autobahn.
