The lucky winner of the Suzuki Swift 1.4 GLS in the recent Star Motoring competition is Shamim Wajoodeen from Lenasia.
Wajoodeen is an audiologist in private practice and is a mum with two boys aged 14 and 11. She sent in four entry forms, has never won anything before, and dreams one day of owning a big SUV.
“The competition enhanced my knowledge on the Suzuki Swift, and got me excited about entering,” said Wajoodeen.
“I thought I’d take a chance, and religiously bought additional copies of the newspaper on the days the entry coupons ran. Thank you Suzuki for the great prize!”
The stick-a-pic competition ran in Star Motoring and The Star with readers asked to cut out the entry form, collect the coupons which ran over several weeks, stick them onto the picture, and post the entry form to us. In a separate competition, three fortunate readers also got to test-drive the Swift and submit their impressions to us for publication.
The Suzuki Swift has a sporty demeanour with athletic and elegant styling, an upmarket interior, and refined handling. It’s powered by a 1372cc petrol engine with variable intake-valve timing, producing outputs of 70kW and 130Nm.
Valued at R184 900, the Swift 1.4 GLS is one of the most feature-packed cars in South Africa’s competitive compact hatchback league.
The prize winner will be enjoying air conditioning; electric windows and mirrors; remote central locking; factory-fitted alarm/immobiliser; a full trip computer; an MP3/CD player with USB slot; a reach-adjustable, leather-covered steering wheel with audio controls; automatic climate control; and a keyless start system.
In the event of a collision, there’s a full complement of front airbags, side airbags incorporated into the front seats, as well as front and rear curtain airbags.
Further complementing the safety arsenal, all Swift models come standard with an advanced braking system, incorporating ABS brakes with both electronic brake force distribution (EBD) and emergency brake assist.
Well done Shamim, enjoy the prize! -Star Motoring
