The Democratic Alliance (DA) is mourning the loss of Greg Krumbock, who served the party for almost 40 years. The party said Krumbock was able to see his lifelong goal achieved, and that's his hometown, the uMngeni Local Municipality becoming the first DA-led municipality in the province.

Krumbock, according to DA leader in KwaZulu-Natal Francois Rodgers, died after a long battle with a heart condition.

"Greg passed away yesterday afternoon after struggling for some time with a heart condition and subsequent complications.

"On behalf of the DA in KZN we extend our heartfelt condolences to his beloved Susan, family and friends," Rodgers said.

He said many are encouraged by the life that Krumbock lived.

"Greg started his life as a DA KZN councillor, eventually becoming a member of the National Assembly. Greg played an enormous leadership role in KZN, from fundraising chairperson to Provincial Chairperson, Provincial and National Campaign Manager, as well as a long-standing Member of Parliament," Rodgers said.

Home Affairs Minister, Leon Schreiber, took to X to share his condolences.

“This is a heartbreaking loss to the DA and to South Africa as a whole. Greg is an unsung hero of our democracy and he was the very best in the business of running campaigns and elections. Like so many others, I had the privilege of learning from Greg. We all honour his legacy,” he posted.
