The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) will televise the highly anticipated, 2024 Summer Paris Olympic Games.
This was made possible after the SABC was awarded free-to-air media rights by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in 2017, in a deal that granted the public broadcaster the broadcast rights, to the Winter Games PyeongChang 2018, the Tokyo Olympic Games 2020, the Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022 and the 2024 Paris Olympics.
SuperSport were awarded the pay TV media rights in South Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa.
Team South Africa has assembled a strong team of 149 athletes that will compete across 21 different sporting codes in Paris to fly the country’s flag high.
As the excitement builds up ahead of the Games opening ceremony in Paris on Friday, the public broadcaster has already shared the events broadcasting schedule on its various social media platforms.
According to the shared schedule, South Africans will be able to watch and enjoy the games on SABC’s traditional TV Channels and the broadcaster SABC Plus streaming app.
The games will also be broadcast on the SABC’s radio platforms.

After the majority of South Africans could not watch the recently completed T20 cricket World Cup in June. There were fears that millions of underprivileged South Africans could again miss out on another major sporting event.
Newly appointed Minister of Sports, Arts and Culture Gayton McKenzie has also vowed to have all South African national team games shown live on the SABC in the future.
