The South African Revenue Service (SARS) this week launched a mobisite and application (app) to enable you to eFile your individual income tax return from your cellphone or tablet.

The mobisite and app can also be used to view your notice of assessment and statement of account, and you have access to a tax calculator.

The deadline for submitting your tax return manually was on Friday. Taxpayers who have not yet submitted their returns will have to eFile them at a SARS branch, via the internet on a computer, or via the new mobisite or app.

To eFile on a mobisite or app, you must first register for eFiling on an internet-connected computer on the website www.sarsefiling.co.za.

To access the mobisite, use your cellphone’s internet browser and enter https://sarsefiling.mobi

To download the app for a mobile device, for Android devices visit Google Play and for Apple devices visit the App Store.

If you need help completing your tax return, you can go to a SARS branch or use Help-You-eFile on its website.

DEADLINES

* Friday, November 23, 2012: For taxpayers who submit their returns electronically at a SARS branch or via eFiling.

* Thursday, January 31, 2013: For provisional taxpayers who submit their income tax returns via eFiling.
