Pretoria - ActionSA’S drive to make significant inroads into ANC constituencies ahead of the possibly historic 2024 general elections has yielded a top intellectual in Mpumalanga.
The party’s provincial chairperson, Thoko Mashiane, introduced former ANC activist and prominent lawyer Sinky Ngobe kaNkosi.
Ngobe kaNkosi was one of the legal minds who were interviewed by the Judicial Service Commission for the vacancies in the Limpopo High Court.
“Mpumalanga ActionSA welcomes Sinky Ngobe kaNkosi to the family of ‘actioners’ to its rank. Sinky Ngobe kaNkosi is a well-known lawyer in the law fraternity, with more than 25 years of experience,” said Mashiane.
Mashiane mentioned Ngobe kaNkosi's impressive profile, which included stints as an acting high court judge, a senior commissioner at the CCMA and chairperson of the first consumer court in Mpumalanga.
“Ngobe kaNkosi participated in the Military Court sitting in Mpumalanga on behalf of Umkhonto we Sizwe members in 1997.
“He also participated in the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, submitting applications for Amnesty. Ngobe kaNkosi was an ordinary member of the ANC, and he has resigned and joined the Actioners.
“He has served in various statutory boards, including Mpumalanga Gaming Board, National Gambling Board, Mpumalanga Liquor Board and the Cross Boarder Road Transport Agency.”
According to Mashiane, this was a broader approach to removing the ANC from power.
“Ngobe kaNkosi’s background in the ANC and his law acumen is something we celebrate in ActionSA.
“As a party, we have demonstrated an unparalleled ability to win support away from the ANC, and this is the only way the ANC can be removed from office. The culture of opposition parties fighting for the same pool of votes cannot advance the project to remove the ANC from government.
“We welcome supporters of the ANC to join our project to fix South Africa. Our issue does not lie with them but rather their leaders.”
Ngobe kaNkosi said ActionSA was the political party to take South Africans forward.
“It is time to look beyond factional politics and focus on rebuilding the country of our forebears and long list of social activists,” said Ngobe kaNkosi.
ActionSA has been spreading its reach across major towns and cities across South Africa.
Its founding president, Herman Mashaba, has been putting out fires from different corners in an attempt to distance his party from issues normally associated with the ANC.
Two months ago, Mashaba publicly denounced billionaire Rob Hersov’s claims that he gave money to several political parties, including ActionSA.
He disputed that Hersov had funded his party but said that the party received R20 000 as a fee for an online speaking engagement.
ActionSA is currently mired in coalition controversy over the uncertainty of the collapsed Joburg government.
