Reddam House Durbanville students achieve remarkable Cambridge International IGCSE and A-Level results

Youkyum Kim, Talitha Vermeulen, Mia Ivan, and Minkyum Kim have been accepted to study Computer Sciences at Cambridge University.

Reddam House Durbanville is delighted to announce the remarkable achievements of its students in the Cambridge International IGCSE examinations. The outstanding results are a testament to the unwavering dedication of both the students and the teaching staff and reflect the school's long-standing commitment to academic excellence.

Summary of Achievements:

81 Grade 11 students sat for the IGCSE examinations.

336 subject distinctions were earned by these students.

44 students achieved an A aggregate.

The school attained an outstanding IGCSE grade average of 80%.

14 students scored above 90% as their aggregate average.

Out of the 20 subjects for which exams were written, eleven subjects achieved an aggregate of over 80%, with an additional seven subjects boasting an aggregate average between 70% and 80%.

Of noteworthy mention, Karli Kennard achieved an extraordinary 99% in Mathematics.

Exceptional performance by two A-Level students:

In addition to the IGCSE successes, two A Level students excelled in their exams, having accelerated their studies to begin university in the United Kingdom and Europe this September. These students are:

Minkyum Kim – who scored 95% in A Level Further Mathematics and 95% in A Level Physics. Minkyum fast-tracked his Mathematics by completing IGCSE Mathematics and then A Level Mathematics at the end of 2023, allowing him to tackle a third A Level subject. With 98% already achieved in A Level Mathematics

Talitha Vermeulen – also accelerated her A Levels to pursue studies at Utrecht University in The Netherlands. Talitha's June 2024 A Level results were exceptional, with 90% in Chemistry, 86% in Mathematics, and 83% in Biology. She has received a conditional offer to study Bio Chemistry.

The Kim family is celebrating the remarkable achievements of both their children—Minkyum, with a 95% aggregate in his accelerated A Levels, and Youkyum, who secured a 96.1% aggregate in the IGCSE exams, ranking as the school’s top-performing IGCSE student.

Reddam House Durbanville offers a dual curriculum, providing both IEB and Cambridge qualifications. The IGCSE (International General Certificate of Secondary Education) is a rigorous 18-month programme, culminating in externally set, marked, and certificated examinations from the University of Cambridge Faculty of Education. Students who complete IGCSEs receive a globally recognised qualification. Cambridge International is the leading provider of international secondary examinations for students aged 14 to 18 years.
