Tuesday night’s MTN8 semi-final first leg between Cape Town City and Orlando Pirates has been postponed due to bad weather wreaking havoc across the Mother City.
The two clubs were due to lock horns at the Cape Town Stadium in Greenpoint at 7pm on Tuesday, but will now play the game on Wednesday at 6.30pm, the PSL announced.

The #MTN8 semi-final encounter has been rescheduled to Wednesday, 28 August, 18h00 after the match was ruled unable to go ahead due to severe weather conditions.

“The decision to postpone the match was made following the advice from the City of Cape Town authorities and stadium management, who reported gale-force winds averaging speeds of 67 km/h,” the PSL said in a statement.
“The adverse weather has led to collapsed buildings, blocked roads due to fallen trees, and impacted stadium facilities.
“Tickets purchased for [Tuesday’s] match will remain valid for the rescheduled fixture.”

On Wednesday, Jose Riveiro and his Buccaneers will be hoping to keep their momentum running after blowing Malagasy side Disciples FC 4-0 in the CAF Champions League last week.
Pirates were brilliant in that game, and left their opponents at times chasing shadows as they ran up the score at Orlando Stadium.
With their last competitive game over two weeks ago, Eric Tinkler’s Cape Town City will be hoping the work they’ve done in pre-season will be enough to slow down Riveiro’s juggernaut.
