When it comes to beauty, celebrities will stop at nothing until they get the looks they desire.

South African media personality Khanyi Mbau broke the internet when she shared a video of herself after a face surgery.

The 38-year-old took to social media to share with her followers how she looked a few hours after going under the knife .

“So I am literally a few hours off surgery, I think it’s been about four hours since surgery. I’ve only started getting my life back, feeling like a normal person as you can see, I am super swollen but I’m okay,” she said.

The actress who has always been obsessed with her looks said she went for something permanent because she was tired of Botox and fillers.

“Now we bake, bought a new face. I know, I know. before we all lose it. it’s still very fresh and super tight. It will take a few weeks for it to cook. I grew tired of Botox and fillers every three months now looking for a permanent solution to a structured tight face,” she wrote on Instagram.

“A big shout out to Dr Merve from @monocosmeticsurgery what a gem and highly skilled with the face. I had a blepharoplasty reducing the heavy skin on my eyelids and subnasal lip lift adding shape to my lips. Goodbye, fillers, botox and threads.”

Mbau also switched off the comments on her Instagram post. However, it was not because she was afraid of people judging her - her vision was still blurry, therefore she could read properly.

Meanwhile, scores of people then took to X to share their opinions about her new surgery.

This included @Victori98500419, who wrote: “No one can convince me otherwise no matter how Khanyi Mbau tries to spin it, justify it. Khanyi Mbau hates herself.”

@Burnerburnerac5 added: “Anyway y'all remember when Khanyi Mbau burnt her knuckles so badly from bleaching while she was playing Zandile on ‘The Wife’ that she had to put concealer over them and had gloves on the whole time they did promo?”

And while many people are convinced that Mbau has low self-esteem, let’s not shy away from the possibility of her surgery becoming a trend.

We’ve seen it with BBLs, tummy tucks, liposuction and other cosmetic surgeries and this one is also expected to boom because Mbau, who has always been candid about changing her body, is a trendsetter.

Lest we forget that this is the same lady who made the “blesser” culture fashionable when she was only 19.

She was one of the first few celebrities in Mzansi to open up about getting a Botox, getting a boob job and bleaching her skin. She has also influenced many people to modify their looks.
