CANSA Relay For Life, a fundraising event, will take place on August 3 at Northlands Girls' High School in Durban North from 2pm to 8pm.

The event is to celebrate cancer survivors, remember those who lost their battle to cancer, as well as support those still undergoing treatment and raise awareness about cancer among the general public.

Entry to the relay is R20 per person. Children under five can participate for free. Adult teams of 10 pay R1000, while its R600 per school team of 10.

CANSA Relay For Life offers communities the opportunity to make a difference in the fight against cancer. Over 30 relays take place throughout the year in South Africa and in 32 countries around the world.

On the day of the event there will be entertainment, food stalls, cancer awareness, health checks, kids activities and chiropractors on site. There will be a candle lighting ceremony to remember and honour loved ones who have passed on or who are still fighting the disease.

Funds raised go towards cancer education, advocacy, cancer screening programmes, and care and support.
