Durban — A new reality TV series featuring a group of affluent mothers in Durban’s Indian community is set to premiere next month.

Produced by Pop24, The Mommy Club: Sugar & Spice show follows the lifestyle of the rich and famous women.

Executive producer of the show Zinzi Velelo Alake, says “It’s reality like you’ve never seen before. Different communities spend their wealth in different ways and viewers will get to see something different,” she said.

Alake said it was intentional to have an all-Indian cast for the show because it resonated with Durban.

“When you think of Durban you think of Zulu and Indian people. Therefore we wanted to show that community. It is not about excluding other races,” she said.

Alake said it was challenging to find the cast as most of the mothers were professionals and have busy lifestyles.

Alake said a prerequisite for the cast, was that they needed to be involved in their child’s life.
