WomenCan, an innovative women empowerment platform centred on forging deep connections and spotlighting women, is set to cap off the month of August on a high note as they gear to host A Night of Mystery on August 31.

Women from a variety of backgrounds are anticipated to show up at the event, enabling them to share their unique and impactful stories while soaking up the glamorous atmosphere and the red carpet experience.

Hosting some of the leading women in their varied disciplines, the evening is set to unpack crucial subjects such as the evolution of women, challenging the status quo in the corporate environment, and entrepreneurship for profitable purposes.

Former vice-chancellor of the University of Cape Town, Mamokgethi Phakeng; CEO of Duma Collective Sibu Mabena; Tees Cooking Bespoke’s Thembeka Sibanyi; and Vice-President of Sales and Information Services at Transunion, Marcia Mayaba; are among the esteemed speakers who will engage the audience.

The founder of WomenCan, Tumi Mthembu, speaks about the upcoming event’s mission of promoting growth, transformation, and the development of influential figures.

“A Night of Mystery is about forging deep connections with women by providing a space for them to share their diverse and impactful stories, big or small. The night is aimed at fostering growth, transformation, and the development of more influential leaders.

“Our inspirational speakers include Professor Mamokgethi Phakeng, Sibu Mabena, CEO of Duma Collective, Thembeka Sibanyi of Tees Cooking Bespoke, and Marcia Mayaba, Vice-President, Sales and Information Services at Transunion.

“The topics on the night include the evolution of women, challenging the status quo in the corporate environment, and entrepreneurship — a profitable purpose.”

As an advocate for giving women a voice, Mthembu explains that she has always prepared these events with the intention of bringing out the best in each individual woman and fostering an atmosphere that supports and encourages her.

“I have always been passionate about providing platforms for women to belong, connect, engage, and impart knowledge on life, work, career, and business.

“I have curated these events to unleash the untapped potential of women and create an environment where all women thrive.

“Through WomenCan, I want to put the spotlight on what women can do and become a source of inspiration for others.”

Mthembu further highlights the importance of women’s support after seven months of preparation, citing corporate support in purchasing tables for their participation in the celebration.

“Themed Masquarade, we are saying to women — it’s time they put the spotlight on themselves and come experience a glitz and glam night with a red carpet experience, a 3-course dinner, inspirational panel discussions, great entertainment, and the reveal of the mystery.”
