Johannesburg - There are growing calls from all quarters for President Cyril Ramaphosa to step down from office and face serious allegations concerning millions of dollars found hidden on his Phala Phala farm.

This time, the freedom of speech movement Right2Know said the president has been given enough time to respond to allegations of money laundering against him. This is following the findings of an independent panel led by some of the best legal brains in the country.

Right2Know campaign manager Sithembiso Khuluse said it was clear that the president had a case to answer to and should resign. The president was found to have violated his oath of office and the Constitution.

“The Right to Know Campaign now calls on President Cyril Ramaphosa to respect the Constitution and voluntarily step down. As an organisation we have respected the processes and procedures through the entire Phala Phala saga, and the time has arrived for us to make the call,” Khuluse said.

Khuluse said should the president fail to step down voluntarily then his party, the ANC, must recall him or support any motion for his removal from the office of the Presidency.

“At this stage, any announcement made by the president, Cyril Ramaphosa, will not change the fact that he has to bid farewell to the highest office of the land,” Khuluse said.

Meanwhile, Action SA president Herman Mashaba said Ramaphosa had to be honest and take the country into his confidence about what really happened on his Phala Phala farm.

Mashaba said the country had to be led by an ethical leader.

“Cyril Ramaphosa has a serious case to answer for; this cannot happen while he is president,” Mashaba said.
