IT’S TOO late! The sold-out signs are up. If you haven’t got a ticket by now, all you can do is watch Saturday’s big derby day clash between Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates on television.
Pirates announced yesterday that the last batch of R150 tickets had sold out, a day after the R40 and R60 tickets had all been snatched up.
Pirates spokesman Mickey Modisane said Saturday was set to be a great day of festivities for 85 000 fans, from the time the FNB Stadium’s gates open at 10am.
“We’ve put together an interesting programme in terms of entertainment, and many chances to win great prizes,” he said.
In addition, at a “commercial corner”, sponsors Adidas and Vodacom will be welcoming fans with a series of giveaway prizes.
The first 20 000 fans through the turnstiles will be given Pirates and Vodacom T-shirts, said Modisane.
“There will also be a beer garden outside. The stadium management has offered a ‘happy hour’ to fans between 1pm and 2pm when you can buy one beer and get one free. There will be music and refreshments outside and inside the stadium,” he added.
“Pirates Legends will play a team of selected legends before the main match. There will be a DJ line-up to keep fans dancing before the game and during the half-time break.”
Modisane said the Pirates players were aware of the pressure that comes with the Soweto derby, and his team were ready to collect three points. “A victory over our biggest rivals would be perfect as Pirates celebrate their 75th anniversary.”
l Stadium management spokeswoman Lindiwe Nkosi warned those without tickets not to come to the stadium, as none would be on sale.
Those travelling in their own cars have been advised to buy parking tickets at Computicket outlets at R60 for general access parking and R40 for disabled parking.
