LEBOGANG SEALE
THE CASE against the Soweto man accused of slitting the throats of his lover’s two sons, killing one, has been postponed.
John Clifford Mohlamme, 34, was arrested two weeks ago after evading arrest for a week.
It is alleged that on September 24, Mohlamme had an argument with the mother of the two boys, Busi Xaba, 31, who accused Mohlamme of cheating on her.
During their tiff, Mohlamme allegedly bit Xaba’s cheek before he ran to her Meadowlands house, where he slit the throats of her sons Kamo, 10, and Thabiso, 6.
He fled, and the cops arrested him in Bramfischerville after a tip-off from residents.
Mohlamme is facing charges of murder and attempted murder after Thabiso died at Chris Hani-Baragwanath Academic Hospital on September 27.
Yesterday, a visibly distressed Mohlamme briefly made his second appearance in the Protea Magistrate’s Court.
He again tried to cover his face, this time using his jacket. His case was postponed to November 15 for further investigations.
Meanwhile, a pastor is under police guard in hospital after he allegedly murdered his two-year-old son and tried to take his own life in Kwazakhele near Port Elizabeth.
The Herald Online reported yesterday that the 29-year-old man allegedly slit his son’s throat and tried to cut his own after he had an argument with his wife on Tuesday.
Inspector Dumile Gwavu said the pastor would appear in court after his recovery. – Additional reporting by Sapa
