DNA tests have confirmed that a body that was found in Ntuzuma last month was that of Reservoir Hills father, Ajith “Hemmie” Durga.
Durga, 57, was allegedly hijacked near the Umgeni Bird Park on July 3.
The father of two worked for Ganga Plumbers in New Germany for more than 10 years and was reported missing by the business.
The Toyota Hilux bakkie that he was driving was found abandoned by a tracking company near Inanda Dam.
His family circulated missing person’s posters and searched hospitals and mortuaries in the hope of finding him.
On Tuesday afternoon, his sister-in-law, Jenita Durga, confirmed that DNA tests were finalised and was that of Durga.
"Ajith was found close to where the vehicle was abandoned in Ntuzuma. His body was sent for DNA testing as it could not be identified as him."
She said as a family they were devastated.
"We need to lay him to rest and pray for strength. We thank everyone for their ongoing prayers and support during this difficult time."
